My name is Ron Bergeron, owner and technician of Austin PianoWorks. WELCOME!  I have a passion for pianos!  I tune pianos, repair them, and rebuild them.  I have a special interest in working with older pianos but I work on all kinds.  I have a profound passion for what what I do.   Consider me your first resource on any piano-related question.  If I don’t know the answer, I’ll find someone who does.  You can easily reach me by phone or email or through the appointment request form on this website.  I respond promptly to all inquiries and don’t mind taking the time to help.  Be sure to visit the photo and video gallery to see samples of our work or just to view some incredible pianos and learn something about how they are put together!

A Texas resident from 1959-1964, I began to study piano at the age of  nine and discovered I had a knack for it.  After studying the piano for six months, I played the Moonlight Sonata and Fur Elise to open and close my first piano recital.  I placed second in the State Competition four years later.  My piano studies continued throughout college, where I studied composition, voice, and piano, while earning my B.A. in English at North Carolina State University.  After completing a M.Div. in Counseling in 1988, I worked as a Marriage and Family Therapist and minister to the poor in Memphis and Phoenix, but my love of the piano never waned.

At the crossroads of mid-life I returned to my first love began in earnest the study of the piano’s technical and mechanical elements.   I sought out and studied with world-renowned technician Jim Coleman, Sr., in Phoenix from 2001-2006 and began honing my skills.  While in Phoenix, I worked at six piano stores, was the lead technician for the Peoria Unified School District, tuned for concerts, churches, and private individuals.

In July 2006 my family and I decided to move to the great State of Texas and establish  PianoWorks, LLC.  I still love pianos and get up every morning, anxious to get to work.  It is my goal to share the enthusiasm and professional skills I have acquired to serve those hoping to buy, rebuild, or service their pianos.  Write or call us with your piano-related questions!  We love to talk pianos!
